History

The Gate Theatre opened in 1925 in a studio near Covent Garden.  The venue played host to many successful productions, including British premieres of foreign classics and contemporary works.  The original Gate Theatre was destroyed during the Blitz in 1941.

The Gate Theatre re-established itself in 1979 in its current site in Notting Hill above the Prince Albert pub.
