History

The Young Vic Theatre was opened in 1970.  It was originally part of the National Theatre but became an independent body four years later.  The theatre aims to provide opportunities to younger directors, designers, writers, technicians and actors to work with some of the best theatre artists in the world.  It presents productions to the public at an affordable price.

Since its founding, the Young Vic has become an internationally recognised and award-winning platform for young people.
